Technician for the Furniture and Home Furnishings Industry (T.I.M.A.)
Training
The aim of the course is to give the student the skills necessary
to work in the area of both craft and industrial production of
furniture, working in the following areas: company management,
technical production dept, promotion and sales, with architects
and designers.
The
student will acquire the skills necessary to:
- work with personnel in the production department, in sales dept
and in the home furnishings sector as a whole;
- be able to read and translate designs using traditional tools
and equipment or using CAD systems on a computer;
- select and prepare the material necessary to carry out the various
stages in the production cycle;
- carry out quality control at each stage;
- select and be able to operate the machinery used at each stage
of the production cycle.
The
course for Furniture and Household furnishings consists in:
- two years continued study;
- the third year the student is qualified to do general work in
the furniture and home furnishings industry;
- a two year post-graduate course with the student finally awarded
a diploma, qualifying him/her as a technician to work in the furniture
and home furnishings industry.
Admission to University
The diploma is awarded after having passed the state exams; after
which the student is entitled to enrol in any University faculty,
in particular in the scientific-technical field .
State Competitions
After having graduated the student is entitled to participate
in all state competitions which require a High School diploma
or for those intent on taking up a specialisation.
