Certification

The issuing of certificates of authorization in the furniture industry has the goal of evaluating how a product conforms to the established safety requirements.

ITER Certificativo

This deals with the certifying of a product. The quality of the production (procedures and/or instructions of manufacture, of controls on the machine) is taken into consideration. A check is required on the description of the product's documents(specifications, drawings, distinctions) and laboratory tests are carried out to check how effectively the product conforms to the applied norms and regulations where they apply.

Product Testing

These tests are based on try outs carried out on the real product, guaranteeing its safety and resistance. Products volantarily submitted to these certifying tests can add value to the item as a determined level of quality of the product is assured.

Standards Authorities and Testing Laboratories

CATAS is at present the principal authority on research and development and testing laboratory in Italy for the wood and furniture industry; it is an important standards authority. It serves annually over 1000 companies offering consultancy, holding training courses, carrying out tests on material,on components and other products by issuing standards certificates.
CATAS cooperates with organisations and institutions both in Italy and abroad to carry out research and to certify products; it is a member of EURIFI, one of the main research institutes in Europe for the wood furniture industry. From when it was first set up CATAS has always been actively involved standardising and in norms and regulations. In addition CATAS is punto UNI and punto CEI, therefore giving companies the opportunity to consult and acquire all of the national and European norms and regulatory certification.
